Round-up of Serie A weekend and a look on European fixtures during the week.

Alberto Brignoli and teammates celebrating the 2-2 draw against AC Milan.
This weekend Italian football played the 15th round of its Serie A league which is played on 38 rounds. Napoli and Juventus, probably the best two teams in Italy faced each other in one of the biggest matches throughout the year. The 'Bianconeri' snatched all three points as they won 1-0 in Stadio San Paolo in Naples. As a result of this Napoli suffer their first loss of the campaign by courtesy of their ex-player Gonzalo Higuain who scored in the first stages of the game. Inter took full advantage of this as they won at home against Chievo Verona. Ivan Perisic and Mauro Icardi were among the goal scorers in this game. On Saturday night, Torino and Atalanta drew 1-1 in a very tight game were both opponents are of the same level and therefore the result was a just one.

Sunday afternoon began with a bang as newly promoted team Benevento won their first point ever in Serie A at home against AC Milan. The visiting team conceded the goal in the last minute of the game by none other than Benevento's goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli who directed a beautiful header in the bottom corner where Gianluigi Donnarumma could do nothing about it. After putting himself in the history books, Alberto Brignoli said:
I want to thank everyone involved in the team, President, coaches, staff and players who worked for this achievement for the past three months. It would be an injustice to mention only me in this great day for our team. We will keep fighting to gain salvation and for the pride of our team.
During the upcoming week Italian teams will be aiming to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League and Europa League. Juventus are in dire need of a win in Greece against Olympiacos to reach the round of 16 in the Champions League. It will be a huge night for Napoli as they need to win at home against Feyenoord and hope that the Ukranian team Shaktar Donetsk loses against Manchester City to advance the group.

On the other hand AC Milan, with the guidance of new coach and ex-player Gennaro Gattuso, have already won their Europa League group and the last match will be of few significance. Lazio have aced their group as well and Atalanta will be looking to get all three points against Olympique Lyon to join both AC Milan and Lazio as winners of the group. Therefore, supporters of Italian teams will be looking forward for this week as it promises to continue showing the Italian teams regaining their dominance in European football.
